Guided by the 7 Core Principles of Public Waldorf Education

TRCVS is a public charter school guided by the Core Principles of Public Waldorf Education. Our goal is to offer this proven pedagogy to students in Wisconsin regardless of income level or geographical location. We deliver all of the same state standards of a traditional school, but by utilizing the Waldorf methodology right into your home. Through these interactive lessons, our nurturing staff works to build strong educational partnerships with the students and parents, no matter where they are.

The Tomorrow River Community Charter Schools’ (TRCCS) curriculum is designed to develop the children’s capacities for physical well-being, strength and coordination, for emotional/social depth and connectivity, and for creative, free, and clear thinking. TRCCS is education to the hands, heart and head or the willing, feeling and thinking.

Ms. Wanda, TRCVS Main Lesson Teacher

We believe that education should align with the developmental stage of a child and develop the multiple intelligences of the human, not simply the intellect. Lessons and concepts are delivered through three methods: head, heart, and hands. The use of each approach varies depending on the age and abilities of a class.

  • The Head: Commonly the focus of traditional education, this lecture approach to education is limited in early years in Waldorf and used increasingly as students advance through the middle school grades, preparing them for secondary education and beyond.

  • The Heart: The primary approach to learning in the early years, students are drawn into lessons with storytelling, artistic expression, and roleplaying. This emotional connection retains attention and develops the imagination which is expressed as problem solving skills in later years.

  • The Hands: Used routinely throughout all grades, students experience subjects through hands-on learning, practical life-skills, and movements like dance and art. Students engage with experts and craftspeople through visits and fieldtrips and experiential trips.

Meeting State Standards

Our classroom teachers are DPI certified and also have completed their Waldorf teacher preparation as required by the Alliance for Public Waldorf Education. TRCCS’s collaborative leadership model allows teachers the ability to shape the lessons to respond to the needs of their students. We meet all of the same state standards of a traditional school, but through a non-competitive, nurturing environment that delivers instruction not only through standard lecturing (head) but also through non-traditional methods like storytelling (heart) and through experimentation (hands). This multi-faceted approach to learning deepens retention of subject matter for various types of learners.
